Almost ten years post graduation, I think I love being a Penn alum even more than I loved being a Penn student (and oh how I loved…and I do mean loved…being a student there).
I think that’s because, ten years later, the same kids I rolled out of bed and stumbled to class with each morning are now becoming every variety of local and national superstar.
And I’m not just talking John Legend (though I do still have the “John Stephens” CD I bought from him during his Penn student days–and alas, he was class of ’99, me ’00, so I had to suffer those one-year-older-folks’ stories and Facebook pictures of reconnecting with him at their reunion last year).
Yesterday, I heard the fantastic news that Penn alum, photographer, and old buddy J.J. Tiziou has an amazingly high-profile project on the horizon. His artistry is going to be made into a 50,000 square foot mural at the Philadelphia International Airport! If you’re a dancer (of any sort–not just the professional); check out the How Philly Moves project. He’s looking for participants now.
If you’re otherwise interested in learning more about how J.J. will collaborate with the City of Philadelphia’s famous Mural Arts Program, check out this article in today’s Philadelphia Inquirer.
And, if you just need a reason to smile today, read J.J.’s manifesto at www.everyoneisphotogenic.com. Yes, he means you, too.
